Sketchy Thursday, and a Kitty!

I went out last night, mostly just to get in the AC in the car, but also because one of my favorite local stamp stores was having a sale.....and they never have a sale. Only to find out that the sale was only for online orders, but oh well. The stamps I wanted were not available online.

This card uses one....wait, actually two of the stamps I just got. Don't ya just love this little sweet thing? My oldest son came over and said "Nice Gnome, Mom!" I had to laugh. Her name is Peggy Polka Dot, and I just love her.....I also got a little boy as well, I'll have to make a card with him real soon so y'all can see how adorable he is too!

Anyway, from looking at the sketch from Tracy, I knew I wanted to use some of my Early Bird PP, and so that pretty much decided my color scheme. This was such a fun sketch to do, thanks Tracy!

I haven't really been all that thrilled with some of the cards I have made lately, but I really really love this one. I think I'll have to use it for my August Card Class.

And now some non stampin' stuff. Ever since I saw the picture of Tracy's new kitty, Jinxy, I have thought that she is the spittin' image, only in girl form, of our newest kitty Titan, or Tininan, as he is best known in our house. We have this crazy habit of having multiple names for our pets. Kinda crazy, but oh well. So I just had to post this picture of Titan, so those of you who have seen Jinxy will know what I'm talkin' about!

Raspberry Suite Challenge #13 - Take 2

There just wasn't something right with my first entry. It's been buggin' me for days, and so today I decided to do something about it.

I made another card. And this one feels so much better to me.

I love this saying. For those of you who don't know it is a replica of the WW ll poster that Great Brittan put out in 1939. It is my new motto.

The Goods:
Paper: Certainly Celery, Real Red, Cameo Coral, Whisper White; all SU.
Inks: Certainly Celery, Real Red, Cameo Coral; all SU.
Stamps: Petal Pizazz, SU; Sentiment by Rubber Soul.
Extras: Swiss dots embossing folder, Real Red Polka Dot Ribbon, SU; Rhinestone

A Moxie Fab Challenge - My First!

Well I found a new challenge....through my online stampin' pal, Kelley Eubanks. She has a lot of great ideas and creations on her blog My Front Porch....check her out sometime. I saw some cards she did fora Moxie Fab World Challenge, and so I checked out the challenge, and just recently there was a new challenge put out there, and so I decided to participate.

Here was the challenge. A boatload of purse/bag pictures were put up and the challenge was to pick one and make a card that was inspired by that particular one.

This was the one that called out to me.

And this was the card I made. I was mostly inspired by the colors. Don't know that I would have ever thrown those colors together, but I might have to use them together again sometime soon.

Now that I look at it compared to the tote....I think I should have used less Soft Sky. Oh well, it's done now!

Sweet Sunday Sketch with no stampin'!

It is so hot that I can't even function. It was already 90 degrees by 9:30 this morning. And we don't have AC. Painful. It's just that if I wanted this kind of heat I would have moved to Arizona, or Texas maybe....Perhaps even Nevada. Okay I'm finished whining.
I came down to do a card for Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch, and started a card, and I tried and tried to make it work.....and finally I just gave up. There are not too many cards out there that I just give up on, but this one was one of them. Perhaps I'll snap a picture of the half finished card, just so y'all can see what I mean.

Anyway, I've had these brads for some time now....I know they look like buttons, but they are indeed brads. I got them from Two Peas. Well I went rummaging through my drawer of Bling/Buttons & other exciting goodies, looking for a big rhinestone to go in the middle of the flower for my other card that I started, and I saw the brads, and I got another idea in my head, and so I made this card! Really simple, perhaps too simple....and no stamping! I can't believe myself!

Oh yeah....and here's the first attempt!

Another Raspberry Suite Challenge.....#13

I was so happy to get back today, and bop over to Dawn's site and see that she had another challenge! Oh, how I love a challenge!

As soon as I saw these colors, the idea for the card I made popped into my head, and so away I went making my card. I have to admit, though, the card was much more exciting in my head. Not sure exactly why. Oh well.

Well, I just got back from running a few errands with the boys....didn't really have to do anything, just wanted an excuse to sit in the car with the AC. Boy it is HOT! It's only 2 in the afternoon and we're just a couple degrees shy of 100!

Anyway, when I got home, I looked at my card again, and I like it a little more! Hope this finds everyone happy and cooler than I am!

The Goods:
Stamps: Hello Again set, (SU), little dots background stamp
Inks: Mellow Moss, Cameo Coral, Ruby Red Stampin' Markers'
Paper: Mellow Moss, Whisper White, Riding Hood Red, Cameo Coral
Extras: Swiss Dots embossing folder, Riding Hood Red Taffeta Ribbon, Buttons

Oh, and here's a few pictures of our weekend at the beach house! I swear it is impossible to get a picture of all three boys, where they are all looking at the camera!

A card for Monday. Tuesday, actually!

I wanted to use the color combo (Chocolate Chip, Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Very Vanilla) that I used for this card for Tracy's Sketchy Thursday. And I loved this card that Kristina Werner did for her MACM (make a card monday). So I cased her card, and came up with the card you see here.

I'm loving all my new sets from the SU catalog! I used two of them on this card: Circle Circus & For All You Do. The little background dots you see on the chocolate paper is from Savvy Stamps. I don't know if it's the same one Kristina used on her card, but I think they look really close.

This will be the last of my pre-scheduled posts, as I should be home from the beach house tonight, and I hope there are a bunch of challenges waiting for me....cuz I think I'm totally gonna want to stamp!
Didn't get the picture uploaded, so this didn't post yesterday....I am home, though....the beach was great, and yesterday was close to 100 degrees, and it's supposed to be just as hot if not worse for the rest of the week. I guess I'll just have to hunker down here in the basement stamping dungeon, and stamp, stamp, stamp!
Hope y'all are having a great week and are a bit cooler that Iam here!!!

Keep Calm

This has to be my new favorite saying. Keep Calm and Carry On. What situation in life can you not apply this to? For those of you who are not familiar with this image/saying, it was put out by the British government in 1939, at the brink of WWll. It has made a resurgence!

I love it so much that I ordered it in a poster that I'm going to frame and put somewhere in my house. I should have one for every room in my house! LOL!

Anyway, this little card was designed by one of my dearest friends, Forrest. She used it for her card for card swap a couple of months back. I love the PP she chose. I think they go so well together. And the flowers are from one of my favorite stamp sets, Petal Pizazz.
I finally decided to take a picture of a card OUTSIDE. WOW! I know I've heard people say over and over again, that outdoors gives you incredible lighting....well now I'm a believer.

Just had to showcase this card of hers and give her a little shout out! Love ya, girl!

Card Swap

So I thought I would showcase the cards we made at card swap Wednesday night. There were only half of the group there, but that was okay, because then there were more Coconut M&Ms for the rest of us!

For a while, we were getting pretty intricate with our cards, and now it seems like we have swung the other way, and going for the more simple approach.....I think everyone got sick of having to cut out multiple things for every card!

This one was mine.....I cased a card that used a PTI stamp to create a flower, but I just used a flower instead. Love the simplicity.

Katherine's -I can't believe that she still has some of this DSP....it was one of my fav's. So sad to not have it available anymore.

Debra's -Debra is an interior Designer, and the PP is actually a color copy of fabric.....can you believe it? And it even has a real piece of Lavender tucked in the ribbon! How fantastic.

Heather created this adorable gift card. It's a 3 x 3. Love it!

Nicole - This paper is the cutest! It's Martha Stewart....I love the apples and the pears!

The first attempt

So this was the first card I started to make for Dawn McVey's most recent Raspberry Suite Challenge. I got about half way....didn't really like where it was going, and started a completely different card, here, which I submitted. Wasn't really all that excited about that one either, but oh well. I realize now that I should have used a darker red, like Burgundy, instead of the Riding Hood Red. Yay for me for figuring it out after the fact!

Sketchy Thursday.....on Thursday!

It's crunch time. We're leaving for the beach house tomorrow morning.....so I have a bunch to do so we can get out of town! And when I say I have a bunch to do, I mean stamping! I suppose there's also laundry, and packing and such, but our babysitter is coming this afternoon for a few hours so I can go out and get all my errands done without my 'helpers'.
Well, I decided that if I didn't make a card right now.....it might not happen before we leave, so here's what I came up with.

I've been wanting to try this color combo; Chocolate Chip, Bermuda Bay, & Crushed Curry, so I thought I'd give it a try for Tracy's sketch. And since I loved the line of buttons I used on this card, I thought I would try it again. What do ya think? Does it work?

So glad that Tracy is back...I totally missed her Sketchy Thursdays. And I am so happy that she has a new addition, Jinxy!

Two gals at card swap last night used the French Script background stamp, and I was totally inspired. And since mine hasn't seen ink in a LONG time, I thought I'd try it out! The little bird stamp, which I think I have fallen in love with is from a hostess set from the new catalog. Usually I don't end up using hostess sets or liking them all that much, but I love this little bird! The set is called 'Of the Earth'. The flower is from a new set as well, 'For all you do'.

A Sunday Sketch Challenge with Buttons!

I was so happy I was able to make a card for Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch. I sorta feel like she has lately...not really feelin' it, not stampin' much, and wonderin' where my stampin' mojo has taken off to! Perhaps it's the middle of the summer lul, I don't know.

But this card that I made for her sketch made me happy! I was able to sleep in this morning, as well as one can with 3 boys runnin' amok through the house, and came downstairs and got on the computer, and then just started stamping. This card just about put itself together. I did have some rhinestones on the little pink dots in the flower, but removed them, cuz they just didn't seem right.....can you believe I actually removed bling from a card? There must be something in the water.Hope everyone is having a good week and enjoying summer!

Finally got around to Sketchy Thursday

I am so happy that I made a bit of time today to stamp. I needed it. I am starting to get SO anxiety ridden in regards to the construction starting tomorrow. Cody helped me, and we got the bathroon all emptied out....it looks so strange without all the junk in it!
I have wanted to make a card for Tracy's Sketchy Thursday since.....well, Thursday! It came to me fairly quickly. I had my card box sitting on my table, which I used for the color inspiration for this card. And the flower stamp was just sitting on my table because I'm using it for my card for card swap tomorrow night. So there ya have it! Hope everyone out there is having a great week!

Summer Surfin'

I haven't been stampin for the past 4 or more days....life has just been super busy....but when has that ever stopped me before? Well, it has now. We had our last pre-work meeting with our contractor last night and start construction on the upstairs bathroom tomorrow. What have I gotten myself into? Yikes. Do I have a job ahead of me today, or what! So between cleaning out the bathroom today, and getting ready to leave for the beach house on Friday, I feel swamped. Plus I'm supposed to start looking at all the tile, granite, fixtures, etc, with THREE KIDS IN TOW? I think I'm going to have to put the babysitter on retainer for the rest of the summer....or at least the next 3 weeks.

Okay, enough of my rambling and whining. The card for today I made about 3 weeks ago, but just have never posted it. I thought about using it for my July card class, but there was another card that won out instead. Perhaps I'll use it for August. I saw this pp at my local scrap store and thought it would be perfect for this stamp set that I got mostly for scrapping beach pics, since that seems to be what I have the most of......but I think it makes for a cute card too!

Delight In Simple Things

This is a card I make at my last card swap in June. One of my swap gals just provided all of us with the materials, and we got to make up our own card. Love doing this. There are a few of us in the swap group that want to make this a regular thing....just having a color theme, or just providing the card elements and letting everyone have their own creative licence. But there are a few in the group who just aren't there yet. It would be way out of their comfort zone. All I can say is that when I have be creatively pushed out of my comfort zone...awesome things happen....most of the time, that is.

Hope everyone is having a GREAT Sunday. I'm hoping to get a card made today for Tracy's Sketchy Thursday today....but we'll just have to see! The sunshine is calling me to go outside and read my book!

BUTTONS, BUTTONS, and more BUTTONS!

This was the card I made last night. When we were on vacation last week, there was this little wall hanging in one of the bedrooms of the American Flag. All of the red stripes on the flag were cram packed with red buttons of varying sizes. I wish I would have taken a picture of it. But it inspired me to make a card with LOTS of buttons. And this was the card I came up with! I took two different pictures of it, and can't decide which one is better, so here's both of them!

This is my second post for the day, so be sure to scroll down to see my entry in Dawn's Raspberry Suite Challenge!

Happy Friday to Y'all! Hope you have a great weekend!

Raspberry Suite Challenge #12 - My Second One!

Warning: There's going to be some rambling in this post!

I loved participating in Dawn's last challenge, which was my first Raspberry Suite Challenge, so I was so excited last night when I hopped on over to Dawn's site and saw that she put out a new challenge!

The funny thing about the colors that Dawn chose for her challenge is this: I had just finished making a card, not for any challenge or anything in particular, and when I finished the card I was going to head up to bed to read for a little while, but I decided real quick to check out Dawn's site. When I saw these colors that she had chosen, I thought I must have ESP, because the card I just finished , was pretty much those same colors. A little strange don't ya think? If you want to see this card, click here!

Well, I didn't want to enter that card in her challenge, even though the colors were so close, and we all know that I can't leave something undone, and rest, so even though I was done for the night, I had to make another card. Loved the colors. I have so many of these Coleus plants in my pots on my front porch, and I love 'em. Wish that I would have thought to use them for color inspiration....Thanks for thinkin' of it, Dawn!!

I tried to go simple with this card. I used one of the new Level 1 Hostess sets from the new SU catty. I just love this little bird. Grabbed a few leftover buttons from the last card I made, and I had my card. Thanks for stoppin' by and takin' a peek!

Remember when I get to 30 who join my site, I'm going to give away another stamp set to one of those lucky people! We're almost there!

The Goods:
Inks: Riding Hood Red, Melon Mambo, Certainly Celery
Paper: Riding Hood Red, Melon Mambo, Certainly Celery, Very Vanilla
Stamps: Of the Earth (Hostess Level 1 set from the new SU catalog)
Extras: Riding Hood Red Taffeta Ribbon, 1 1/4 & 1 3/8 Square Punches, Random Buttons

A simple sunday sketch

Since we didn't return from vacation until just a couple of days ago, I pretty much counted myself out of Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch. For some reason I had it in my mind that the deadline to link a card was Wednesday afternoon. Well I bopped on over there this morning, to check out some of the entries, only to find Mr. Linky still open.

So I had to make a card.

I have seen a bunch of y'all make these cards using pens and making outlines....so I had to try it for myself! I really like the look of it! And I used another one of my new SU sets from the new Catalog!

Hey, anyone out there want a free catalog? Just leave a comment on this post by Midnight, Pacific Time, on Saturday (that's 3 am for all you east coasters....you lucky dogs!) And I will randomly select one of y'all to receive SU's new Idea Book and Catalog!
The Goods:
Inks: Basic Black, Crushed Curry, Rich Razzleberry
Stamps: For all you do (new in the SU catalog)
Paper: Basic Black, Kraft, Whisper White
Extras: White Signo Gel Pen, Lemonade Baubles, Nestabilites Die (to make the white rectangle outline)

Sunriver

Well, I know it's not a card, or a crafty project....but I just thought I'd post a few pictures of our vacation, so y'all could see the reason why I wasn't stampin' for a while!
My guys at the pool!

Why is it that the boys look so pained in the picure with me, but just great in the picture with Dad?

Mt. Bachelor. This is a view from the Lava Cast Forrest, but we basically have the same view of it from the house we stay in, only there's hole #17 of The Meadows Golf Course in the foreground. You can't get any more beautiful than that!

We've Reached 20!

This is my second post for the day, if its a card you're after, you want to scroll down to my earlier post!

Yay, so I've reached 20 followers, and like I promised, I'm going to give away a stamp set out of the new SU catalog to one lucky follower! So here we go!

Random Integer Generator
Here are your random numbers:2
Timestamp: 2009-07-16 04:15:45 UTC

And that would make the winner....KIMBERLY! Congrats! Just email me your address and I will get your stamp set out to you right away!

If you're wondering how I did this, I got the random number from random.org, and since all of y'all don't have numbers associated with you in my following list, I just took the number (2) and counted down from the top of the list blogger gave me, and Kimberly happened to be the one!

I think I like this game! Do you? I'm thinkin' that for every 10 more people who join my site...I might just have to keep doing this and be givin' fun stuff away!

Hopefully my mojo will find me, and I'll be back tomorrow with another card!

Happy stamping to all of you, and thank you to those of you who actually like to come back again and again and check out what I'm doing....it really means a lot!

KW #56 - Where'd my mojo go?

Sometimes I feel like I have just been stamping and crafting so much that I kinda get this creative block, and need to take a break from it to come back fresh and new and ready to go. Well, I have found out that 10 days is a little too much time. Vacation has pretty much killed my stamping mojo!

I mounted all my new SU sets last night that came while I was on vacation. And couldn't wait to get stampin' today. Well I sat down at the computer and what to my lovely eyes should appear, but another one of my favorite challenges! 'Perfect' I thought. I love Kristina's challenges, and what better way to get back into the swing of things than this. Well, it's proving to be quite tough. It might take me a few days to get back into my groove!

Anyway, here is my card I did for Kristina's challenge. And I used a bunch of my new goodies from the new SU catalog.

And, just to let y'all know, we're getting close! I am at 21 on my following....and remember when I get to 30, one lucky person will receive a little goodie (stamp set) from the new SU catalog! So join along, and you might just be that lucky winner!

Save the Date....

So I have agreed to help one of my cousins with her wedding save the date cards and wedding invites. There have been a couple of changes....like any bride to be, you know, location, date, colors...etc.

First the wedding was to be in Carmel, CA, and her colors were going to be yellows and blues. Now the wedding is going to me in Maui, and the colors have changed.....I mean you can't just have yellows and blues when getting married in a tropical paradise, can you.

I just hope we can go....the wedding is in mid April, and Ker and I are already going to Maui in October to celebrate our 10 year anniversary! So we'll have to see if we can swing another Maui trip just 6 months later.....it's not looking promising....and we'd probably have to take the kiddos that time too!

Okay, so enough chatter....here is just one of the many mock ups that might somehow at some point in time resemble her save-the-date cards. It looks like she likes this, but we're going to change up a few colors and such!

This is the second post for today.....trying to make up for vacation time, so be sure to check out my earlier post with my card box!

I'm Baaack.......with my card box!

Hey all- is anyone still there? I'm finally home from vacation and since I got in late last night and am just getting my bearings about me, I have yet to stamp.....although I think its going to have to happen, since my stamping up order was here sitting on my crafting table when I got home....thanks Heather! So much fun stuff! I can't wait to play with it!

Do you ever feel like you pump out these projects and creations for other people, and mean to make some for yourself as well, but never get around to it? I do this ALL the time. I can't tell you how many unfinished projects I have.....
Well, this is a card box I made....for myself. I knew that I wanted to use this particular pp from October Afternoon, but couldn't locate it anywhere.....everywhere I looked, it was sold out. So I found it on ebay. It's so sad to admit, but I wanted it THAT bad. The box I found at a local scrap store....it's actually a recipe box, so it has dividers, that I'm going to cover with pp, and label for different sorts of cards. Its on my list of things to do.

Oh.....btw, we just need one more follower to get to 20, and then I can give away a stamp set from the new SU catalog!

No card to share....but good times.

Hey all! Sorry I don't have a card to share with you, I'm on vacation, and I have about 6 more days until I can stamp again. I wish I could say that I missed it, but since I'm in one of the best places on earth, I can't say that I do. Well, here I am in Sun River. It feels like we never left. I love it here. I forgot the cord for the camera, otherwise I would have some pictures to share.
Hopefully I will be back Tuesday with a card......I had a couple of posts all done that I was going to schedule to post this week while I'm away, but I never got the pictures for them uploaded....just didn't have time with all the family in town for the 4th, and then trying to pack up to leave early Sunday morning. And I'm on Ker's computer now, and he doesn't have any of my pictures. Shouldn't all husbands have back ups of all their wives' stamping/blogging pictures?
Anyway....things should be quiet here until Tuesday! Hope y'all have a great week!

A little more Slice......

So this is a birthday card I did for my friend Shannon....hopefully I'll give this to her before she sees it on my blog! I guess I'll have to give it to her tomorrow! I had this Cosmo Cricket paper sitting around, and saw a card that Kristina did over at her blog, which used this paper, (you'll have to scroll down a bit in her post to see the card I'm talking about) and so I kinda cased her card and came up with this one. The flowers and the "S" are all from my Slice machine. Can you believe there's no stamping on this card?

Hopefully I will get a chance to post befor the fourth....we'll see. I've got a bunch of family flying in tomorrow, and then we leave for Sun River on Sunday for 9 days, so things might be a little quiet here on the ol' blog front....I'm tryin' to get some posts pre-done....but we'll see, I still have to get to Costco tomorrow, and pack since we won't have very much time on Saturday!

For all of you U.S. peoples......hope y'all have a most wonderful 4th of July!
The Goods:
Paper: Cosmo Cricket 'Early Bird', Very Vanilla, Not Quite Navy, Crushed Curry, Riding Hood Red
Extras: Slice Machine, Swiss Dots embossing cartridge, Kiwi Kiss Satin Ribbon, Pommegranite Baubles, random button, and hemp twine.

My first Raspberry Suite Challenge!

Well, I just couldn't resist another challenge! This is the first time I've played this challenge over at Dawn McVey's My Favorite Things. What a talented gal! And what a fun color challenge. These colors were super fun to work with! I knew I wanted to make a card with flowers, but my only problem was trying to decide whether or not to stamp the flowers and then cut them out, or to use my Slice Machine, and make distressed vintage flowers, which by the way I learned how to do from a tutorial Dawn had a few days ago.

Well, I stamped flowers and I made flowers with my Slice. The slice won out, mainly because I didn't want to cut out all those intricate flowers I had stamped, but also because.....well I don't really know. Oh yeah, now I remember, I didn't want there to be any white on the card, since white was not one of the colors called for (even though Dawn mentioned it would be OK).

I did stamp on the flowers, but it really doesn't show up that well, even in real life, let alone the picture. And I decided to distress the leaves a bit too! Wasn't really too fond of the card at first, but it's beginning to grow on me!
The Goods:
Paper: Basic Black, Going Grey, Wild Wasabi, Real Red, Melon Mambo (All SU)
Ink: Basic Black, Real Red, Melon Mambo
Stamps: Sentiment: Noteworthy; Organic Outlines, Circle Circus
Extras: Melon Mambo Polka Dot Ribbon, Rhinestones
Oh, and remember, when I get to 20 followers, I will be sending out something ( a stamp set, I presume) from the new SU catalog to one of those lucky people....wouldn't you like to be one? Just sign up to follow me and you could win! We're almost there.....

In Color Flowers with my Slice Machine

I haven't posted in a few days....so not like me. It's not that I haven't been stamping, I have, it's just that I haven't really liked anything that I've turned out....one of those little slumps, I guess. I saw Dawn McVey show a little tutorial on making distressed vintage looking paper flowers, and so I tried it out myself. I like how they turned out. She used 3 different sized punches for her flowers, but since I can't seem to put down my Slice Machine lately, I thought I would use it to make my flowers.

Sorry the past few days of images haven't been that great....as I said earlier, my little trusty steed (camera) broke last week, and I bought a replacement, but it's just not as good. It doesn't focus as well, I it's just a bunch of blurry garbage when I try to get close ups. I guess it's time to pull out the big guns. I've avoided using my good camera, mainly because I'm lazy, and my little point and shoot is so much handier. Perhaps today, I will get some time and can play around with my big camera and lighting and such. It's been a far cry from my photography classes in college, (mind you I used a dark room...what's that?) but perhaps I can remember a few things and get some better images. I did consult my best friend, Kaycee, who is a photographer. She gave me some great tips on lighting, I just haven't put them to use. Like I say, I'm lazy! But if you want to see some great photography you should visit her website. She was up here visiting a few weeks ago, and took some amazing pictures of my boys. I'm going to have one of them done up on a huge piece of canvas, but there were just so many good pics, that I'm having a tough time deciding....when does that ever happen?

The Goods:
Paper: Very Vanilla, Basic Grey, Basic Grey DSP, Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry
Ink: Very Vanilla
Stamps: Sentiment: Razzle Dazzle, French Script, Polka Dots
Extras: Slice Machine, Noteworthy; Bermuda Bay Polka Dot Ribbon, Martha Stewart Bubble Scallop Border Punch, Colored Rhinestones
